TOM & SERG, Al-Joud Center, DUBAI
Earn your cool credentials in this modern industrial-style café, which was once a warehouse. High ceilings, a glass front, exposed pipes, concrete floors and an open kitchen make the whole scene very hip.
The menu is the brainchild of Aussie Tom and Spaniard Serg and is split into AM and PM sections. The AM dishes are, as you’d imagine, only available until midday on weekdays, but up for grabs all weekend. Perfect if you fancy some breakfast such as shakshouka baked eggs or honey, strawberry and pistachio granola in the afternoon.
Go to the water station to get unlimited bottles for your table. It might not be totally chilled, but the H20 in branded Tom & Serg canisters is free, so what’s not to like?
Check the chalkboard for the day’s iced tea and house-made cordial specials. Victorian lemonade, curiosity cola, juice and old-fashioned milkshakes all arrive in mason jar glasses with striped straws.
The time between ordering and eating isn’t long. Not only does food arrive quickly, but the portions are pretty generous too. That said, don’t miss out on the sides as well!
